Winston Travis Hays, 86, died at his residence on July 15, 2014.
Services for Mr. Hays will be a visitation, July 17, 2014 at Broecker Funeral Home, Salado from 5 to 7 PM. Burial will be private at Salado Cemetery on July 18th.
Winston was born, February 14, 1928 in Liberty Hill, Texas. He grew up in Bertram, Texas and attended Bertram High School. He then went to work as a truck driver, eventually owning his own trucking company.
In 1976 he met and married Helen Joy Cravy. The couple lived in Austin, Round Rock and eventually settled in Salado in 1995.
Winston loved deer and dove hunting, cattle ranching and particularly loved teaching ranch life to his grand and great grand children.
He was a member of the Round Rock Kiwanis Club.
He was a devoted husband and grandfather.
Winston is preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his 2 sons, Terry of Kingsland and Michael of Andice, and one daughter, Kathy Keller of Salado. He is also survived by 3 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
