Ed Martch, 81, died October 23th. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, November 1 at 11:00AM, at St. Paul's Catholic Church, Harker Heights. A rosary will precede the service starting at 10:00AM.
Ed Martch was born on November 17, 1932 to Ben Martch and Helen Valentine Martch.
He grew up, along with his two brothers, Henry and George, and their extended family in El Paso, TX. After graduating from Austin high school, he earned a Civil Engineering degree from Texas Western College (now the University of Texas-El Paso) in 1954.
Ed served in the army, where he was stationed in Alaska for two years. He was honorably discharged in 1956 and returned to El Paso. As a Professional Engineer (PE), he spent the majority of his career with the Gas and the Products Divisions of El Paso Natural Gas Co. and ABB Lummus.
He married Sandra Sturdivant in 1958 and they had two children, Eddy and Nancy. They lived for many years in Odessa before moving to Houston. Ed was a dedicated husband and father.
Ed married Marie Hitchcock in 19867, bringing together two families and adding to the circle of those he loved dearly. He always cherished his time with his family, particularly his grandchildren. He loved his church and enjoyed the friendship and fellowship of many throughout his life. His loving presence will be sorely missed.
Ed enjoyed many family vacations at the lake, fishing and boating. Upon retirement, Ed and Marie moved to Belton, where he savored the beauty of the water and nature in his own back yard. He dedicated many hours as a church and community volunteer and loved helping others.
Ed leaves behind many who love him. He is survived by his wife, Marie, and his brothers Henry (Dorothy) and George (Alice) and their families; children Eddy (Cindy) and Nancy, Bill (Kathryn), and Rene (Ernie); nine grandchildren Rebecca 8 in Austin.
The last year of his life, Ed lived at Silverado Onion Creek Memory Care in Austin. We are eternally grateful for the loving care that he received there.
