Tommy G. Hipp Obituary


Tommy Glenn Hipp, 67, of Salado, died on Saturday, November 30, 2013 at University of Arkansas Medical Center, Little Rock, AK.


There will be a visitation at Broecker Funeral Home, Salado, TX, December 3, 2013 from 4:00 to 5:15PM. A rosary will be held at 5:30PM at St. Stephen Catholic Church, Salado following the visitation. There will be a short visitation at St. Stephens on Wednesday, December 4 from 8 am to 9 am with the Burial Mass to follow. Internment will be at St. Boniface Cemetery, Olfen, TX on Wednesday, from 2:30 to 3:30PM with military honors.


Tommy was born in Nolan County town of Roscoe, TX July 27, 1947 to Joseph Franklin Hipp and Josie Elizabeth Tubb. He grew up in Blackwell, TX where he attended and graduated high school. He then went on to graduate from San Angelo State University with a bachelors and masters degree in Biology.


He retired from the Marine Corps on February 11, 1973. Tommy married his wife Barbara on May 24, 1975.


He always worked with the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers, serving first as a park ranger OC Fisher Reservoir, San Angelo, TX, then park ranger and recrecreational specialistat, Hords Creek Lake, Coleman TX, and finally as the manager at Granger Lake, Granger, TX.


Tommy was a proud leader for his daughter’s sheep and horse projects, member of the Coleman Co. Lions Club, PRCA Coleman Rodeo Association member, Coleman Soccer Club President, a founder of the Annual West Texas Boys Ranch Deer Hunt at Hords Creek Lake, member of St. Stephen’s Catholic Church and Men’s Group. He had a passion for Genealogy and spent many days and weeks on research projects.


Another of Tommy’s passions was his love of music, where he was a skilled guitarist and loved to record his music.


He is preceded in death by his father Joe Hipp, mother Josie Tubb-Hipp, and brother Jimmy Hipp. He is survived by his wife, Barbara, daughter Traci Seely of Katy, TX and husband Michael and daughter Tonya Bronikowski of Waller, TX and husband Dwayne. He was Pappaw to Jessica Seely, Thomas Seely, Adelyn Jo Bronikowski and Peyton Bronikowski. He is also survived by his sister Emma Lou Waggoner and husband Harley and sister in law Charlotte and many special nieces and nephews.


Tommy was a fighter who spent a decade traveling back and forth to UAMS in Little Rock to receive treatment for multiple myeloma and continuous treatment at Scott and White.



In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Stephen Catholic Church Building Fund, Salado, TX or the West TX Boys Ranch Deer Hunt at Hords Creek Lake,
