Services for Sylvia Delores Allen, 78, of Salado, TX will be Tuesday, March 4 at 2PM at the Salado United Methodist Church with Reverend Lara Franklin presiding.

Sylvia died on Saturday, March 01, 2014 at a hospital in Round Rock.

She was born in Rockdale, TX, August 27, 1935 to Howard and Belle Smith. Being a good athlete, she practiced tennis and went to the state championships.

After graduation, she was a secretary at Alcoa in Rockdale. She later became a legal secretary at Rocket Dyne in McGregor. In 1954 she met and married Jack Allen.

They moved to the Dallas area where she worked as a legal secretary for Dallas Air Motive and remained there for a number of years.

In 1981, Jack and Sylvia moved to their current home in Salado. She continued working with Jack selling western wear throughout east and central Texas, Louisiana and Arkansas.

Sylvia’s passion for rodeoing and horseracing was a perfect marriage with the western business. She also loved to dance.

Most of all, she loved her grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents and two sisters.

She is survived by her husband, Jack Allen, son Jeff Allen, son Mitch Allen, daughter-in-law Michele Allen; granddaughters Mallory Pritzkow, Jaci Allen, Hannah Allen and Kaci Allen; great granddaughter Emily Pritzkow and great grandson Levi Shackleford.
