Services for Royce Vernon will be at the First Baptist Church, Main St., Round Rock, Tx. Saturday, March 28, 2015 at 2PM.

Royce Lynn Vernon, age 86, died peacefully at home on March 19, 2015 after a valiant battle with Parkinson’s disease. He was born on February 21, 1929 in Lockney, Texas and resided in Pflugerville, Texas at the time of his passing.

Royce was preceded in death by his parents, Bert and Essie Mae Vernon; siblings, Bert Vernon, Jr., Nina White, Bettye Cruse, Don Vernon, and Alvin Vernon.

He is survived by his wife of almost 69 years, Irma Vernon; children Lynn Rutherford, Sharon Vernon, and Ed Vernon; grandchildren Chris Kopacz and Carey Brown, five great-grandchildren and their spouses, five great-great-grandchildren with two precious angels on the way. The children brought him his greatest joy.

The family wants to especially acknowledge Michael Janssen, his wonderful caretaker, who could not have done a better job and became like a loving son to Royce in the last months of his life. We will be eternally grateful. We also wish to express our gratitude to Kim Kolpack and Jessica Sanchez for their service and kindness.

Royce lived life to the fullest with a passion for his family, golf, hunting and “tinkering.” With tremendous charisma and sense of humor, he was loved and admired by all who had the privilege of knowing him. He demonstrated his quiet but powerful faith in every area of his life with special commitment to his service as a deacon in the Baptist church for more than 50 years.

Services are in the care of Broecker Funeral Home, Salado. A memorial service celebrating his life will be held at First Baptist Church in Round Rock, 306 Round Rock Ave, Round Rock, Texas on Saturday, March 28, 2015, at 2:00 p.m. with a reception to following.
