Services for Ocie Seawood will be Friday, July 31st starting with a visitation at 9:00AM at Broecker Funeral Home followed by a service and internment at Central Texas Veteran Cemetery, Killeen at 11:00 AM with military honors. God in his wisdom and mercy, on July 27, 2015 said Ocie Seawood, you have fought a good fight, you have finished the course and kept the faith, come home thy faithful servant. Ocie T. Seawood was born on June 17, 1933 in Arkadelphia, AR to the late Ausie and Selma Seawood. He accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at the New Bethel Baptist Church (Piney Grove), Arkadelphia, Ar. In his adult years, he served as a deacon at Simmonsville Missionary Baptist Church, Killeen and First Baptist Church, Copperas Cove, TX Ocie was drafted into the United States Army and proudly served his country from 1953 to 1973, retiring as a Sergeant First Class (SFC). The military was his second family. Upon retirement, he joined a local Carpenter Union and fulfilled a lifetime dream of becoming a journeyman carpenter. He worked on Fort Hood for ten years with numerous contractors building many of the structures utilized by our troops today. After 10 year working for contractors, Ocie joined the federal civil service workforce where he continued to use his carpenter skills working for G-3 Range Division, III Corps and Fort Hood, for the next twelve years. Regardless of where is worked, he had an unsurpassed work ethic. Survivors include his wife, Bernice Seawood of Salado, two sons Oliver Seawood (Linda) of Salado, Ricky Seawood (Frances) of Sherwood, AR; two daughters, R. Jewel Seawood of Salado, Kim Lewis (Ron) of Crowley, TX; one sister, Odessa Patterson of Chicago, Ill, six grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
