Noemí Ramón Peña peacefully passed away on October 26, 2023, at the age of 96, in Temple, Texas, where she has lived since 1964. She was born NoemíTeresa Ramón on September 17, 1927, in Laredo, Texas, to Alfredo and Herminia Ramón. Noemí was preceded in death by her parents, as well as her sister, Eunice Grimaldo, and her brother, Alfredo Ramón Jr. She also had several half-sisters and half-brothers.

Noemí is survived by her loving husband of 67 years, Dr. Ramiro A. Peña and their five children: Noemí Peña Enríquez, Rebecca Peña Guajardo, Rev. Ramiro Abraham Peña, Jr, Steven Edward Peña, PhD, and Marcus Aurelius Peña.  She was a cherished grandmother to 15 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren, and beloved aunt to several nieces and nephews.

Noemí’s educational journey began at Martin High School in Laredo, Texas, where she graduated at the age of 15. She further pursued her education at Howard Payne University, in Brownwood, Texas, where she received a Bachelor of Business Administration degree at the age of 19. She used these accounting skills to successfully manage two private home businesses for many years with her husband: La Encinada Ranch (cattle breeding company) and Salado Medical Clinic (family practice).

Throughout her life, Mrs. Peña found solace and strength in her Christian faith. She was a dedicated member of Goodwill Baptist Church in Temple, Texas, for many years, where she worshipped and found community. She faithfully served as church treasurer, organist, and Bible teacher for more than 35 years. She was also an enthusiastic promoter of missions and mission work through the Baptist General Convention of Texas.

Noemí’s legacy will be remembered through her loving family, her creative talents, and her unwavering devotion to her faith. She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

The family would like to announce that a Celebration of Life service will be held to honor Noemí Peña at 11 A.M., December 9th, 2023, at Taylor’s Valley Baptist Church in Temple, Texas.
