Lt. Col. Russell J. Hinote was born on February 9, 1927 in Champaign, Illinois to Russell Charles Hinote and Blanche Lindseth Hinote. He passed away in Temple, TX on March 15th with his family at his side.
Russ attended the University of Texas and graduated with a BA degree. He started his military service with the U.S. Navy after WWII and then entered the US Army on March 28, 1952. Russ met his future wife Mary Katherine Connor Erikson while both were stationed at Ft. Sam Houston, TX and then they later married on March 6, 1970. The couple made homes in San Antonio,TX, Atlanta, GA and finally Salado, TX.
Russ' hobbies were focussed on collecting model cars, stamps and coins. He was a Member of Masonic Army Lodge 1105, San Antonio, TX.
Preceded in death by his parents; his survivors are his wife Mary of Salado; son, Russell Elliot Hinote of Houston; daughter, Elise (Lisa) Frierson of San Antonio and Patricia (Trish) Ford of Austin. Step-sons: Jackie and Johnny Erikson of Baytown, TX; 12 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
