Services for Lloyd Lee Parks, 84, will be 10:00 AM Friday, September 12, 2014 at the Salado Church of Christ with Pastor Joe Keyes presiding. Interment in Historic Salado Cemetery with Military Honors will follow
Mr. Parks died September 7, 2014 at his residence. He was born in Keifer, Oklahoma, December 9, 1929 to Homer and Avis Motes Parks. He grew up in Oklahoma, where received his education. Lloyd joined the Army in 1946 and spent two years in the Counter Intelligence Corp. being released with a grade of Sgt. He was called from inactive duty into the Army Reserve Corp. while he was a student engineer.
Lloyd started his business career at the Texas Company in Tulsa, OK.
Lloyd spent 30 years in the oil business throughout many parts of the US. He retired as President of Amax Oil and Gas Co.
Lloyd was a member of the IPAA, Independent Petroleum Association of America.
He loved his community and devoted countless hours to the Lions Club where he was an officer and director for many years. Lloyd was the former President of the Salado Civic Center, helping with his time and money to keep the Center operational. He was, also, a board member of the Salado Cemetery Assn.
Lloyd was an active member of the Salado Church of Christ.
In 2009 he married Dena Mae Weber Parks onboard the Emerald Princess.
Lloyd is survived by his wife, Dena; daughters: Connie Van Schuyver of Houston, TX., Karyn Parks of Phoenix, AZ., and Rebecca Fritzson of Frisco, TX.; stepson John Pierce of Ft. Worth and stepdaughter Tammy Pierce of Ardmore, OK.; Brothers: Fred Parks of Sapulpa, OK. and Bob Parks of Tulsa, OK.
Lloyd is preceded in death by his late wife Mary Ellen Scott Parks; brothers: Homer Parks, Jr. and Bruce Parks and his parents.
Visitation will be one hour before the church service.
