Services for Lewis Wesley Grimsley, 65, of Salado, will be at 10:00 a.m., on Saturday, August 24, at Broecker Funeral Home in Salado with Pastor David Mosser officiating. The burial will take place Saturday afternoon in Hico, Texas at Country Oak Cemetery. A viewing will be held on August 22, 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. at Broecker Funeral Home in Salado.
Lewis died on Friday, August 16, 2019, at the Central Texas V.A. Hospital in Temple, Texas.
He was born on March 22, 1955, in Harlingen, TX, to Patsy Ruth Du Bose and Harold Ozell Grimsley. He attended Temple schools, and received his GED while serving in the Navy. Lewis was part of the Navy for 2 years and served as an aircraft mechanic at Oceana (Virginia Beach), Virginia during the Vietnam War. He married Brenda Irene Adams on June 26, 1981 in Austin, Texas at the Austin Botanical Gardens. They have been residents of Salado for 15 years and were previously residents in Smithville for 23 years. Lewis worked as an electrician and was part of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local Union 520. He was contracted by Halliburton and Fluor for various jobs with the military in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Lewis was a lifelong avid rock collector and was part of the Belton rock club. He loved to travel and through his various jobs had many opportunities to explore the world and collect rocks. He loved his family and enjoyed being a grandpa. He was Methodist and part of the SUMC community.
Survivors include Brenda Grimsley (wife), Marcene McClenny (daughter), Logan McClenny (son-in-law), Adelyn McClenny (granddaughter), soon to arrive Jonathan McClenny (grandson), Travis Grimsley (brother), Tasha Grimsley (niece), Trey Grimsley (Nephew), John Adams (Nephew), Scott Adams (Nephew). He is preceded in death by his father, Harold Ozell Grimsley, his mother Patsy Ruth Du Bose, and his brothers Lance Grimsley, and Larry Mikeska.
