Kent Dan Ritter was born on a Saturday morning, July 19, 1969 in a military hospital on Mountain Home AFB, Idaho. He was inquisitive and mischievous from the start. He was simply beautiful as a young boy, with light-blond hair and blue, blue eyes. In kindergarten it was discovered that he had a bright mind, and in his school years he received many scholastic honors. At Martin High School in Arlington, Texas, he was a merit scholarship finalist, and he received a full academic scholarship to Texas A & M University where he studied engineering and computer science. He was in the Corps of Cadets as a freshman, and was active in establishing a fraternity on campus. He developed many lifelong friends who admired and enjoyed him.
In his career, he worked in setting up new business ventures, with cutting-edge vibration diagnostics, and even with explosives. He always was the go-to person for solving computer problems, and when asked how he did it, he simply said “I sprinkled pixie-dust over it” to avoid intricate explanations that would not be understood. He was loved and admired by his teachers, employers and often, even strangers.
He was generous and giving in every way; maybe too much so. He was always the peacemaker in conflicts, but never could accept that people can be cruel, mean and deceitful. Injustice in any area really frustrated him and his kind heart could never accept or condone it
In his continuing education seeking a masters and doctorate degree, he excelled and was always the professors’ favorite. He frequently declared that his wish is to never hurt anyone in his life and as lofty a goal this was, in many ways he succeeded. His hand was always held out to help and encourage, and he enjoyed a little tease, cheering people up with a quick joke and clown maneuvers
He was truly a special gift from God. A gifted person with a golden heart that shone on all of us. He was a born again Christian and proclaimed his assurance that Jesus lived in him and that he knew where he would be going.
We feel comfort in this and we will certainly miss him.
