Keith was born in La Junta, Colorado, February 20, 1925 to Leota and Elmer Engelhardt. Elmer, a car carpenter with the Santa Fe railroad, caused the family to move to many locations, but they moved to Cheney Kansas to be neaqr MF Simsley, Keith’s grandfather on his farm.
When Keith was a junior in high school in Cheney, the family moved to California and shortly afterwards he was drafted into the US Army, serving in Europe and North Africa for three years during WW II. During his army training days at Camp Bowie in Brownwood he met Ruby O’Neill who he married after returning from North Aftrica.
Keith worked in the oil business all his life, first with Shamrock Oil and Gas in Dumas, Texas and later with Humble PipeLine and Ennron Pipeline for 36 years.
Keith retired in Houston but moved to Salado to play golf during his retirement.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Ruby, 2 brothers and 1 sister. He is survived by a step-son, 1 grand daughter and 4 great grand daughters, caretaker and niece, Vicki Woods and cousin, Alice Torgerson.
