Karl Ray Obituary

Services for Karl Ray, 65, of Salado will be Friday August 31st, 10 am at Salado United Methodist Church with Dr. David Mosser officiating. Visitation will be Thursday, August 30th from 5-7pm at Broecker Funeral Home. Burial will be Friday August 31 at Salado Cemetery following the services at the church.

Karl was born March 23rd, 1953 in Beaumont, Texas to Charles and Geneva Ray. He was an outstanding high school football player and obtained a full scholarship to play at Baylor University. He was a proud Baylor alum and member of the 1974 Southwest Conference champion Baylor football team.

Karl graduated with a BBA in 1975 and later graduated from Baylor Law School. Karl practiced law for about 15 years before pursuing his real passion, real estate. Over the years, he had sold hundreds of homes in the Austin and DFW area. He taught at the Austin Institute of Real Estate in the late 90s through 2005 and was awarded the teacher of the year in 2001.

In 2001, Karl became a broker for Texas Star Realtors. He managed several hundred properties between then and his untimely death.

In his off time, Karl loved to work in his yard. He always had the greenest yard in the neighborhood and the most palm trees. He adored his pets (Soco, Sam, Gator and Buddy) as if they were his children. His idea of a good time, if it didn’t include Vegas or a sandy beach with palm trees, was sitting on the back porch with a few beers, his family and puppy dogs, watching the Astros and solving the world’s problems.

He married his wife Tamara Round on July, 27 2004. Karl and Tammy have been residents of Salado since 1995.

Survivors include his wife Tamara Ray of Salado, Tx; brother, Kyle Ray of Grapevine, Tx., daughters Taylor White and Lauren Butler, sons Dustin Ray and Brad Carter, granddaughters Murphy White and Rachael Butler, grandsons Kannon Butler, Maddox Carter and Camden Carter.
