JUANITA DAVID BENOIT
Juanita David Benoit of Salado, Texas and Gueydan, Louisiana, died August 20, 2023. Juanita was affectionally known as Nita by her many friends. A visitation for Nita will be held Thursday, August 31 from 5:00 - 7:00 pm at the Broecker Funeral Home in Salado, Texas. Services for Nita will be held Friday, September 1 at St. Stephen Catholic Church in Salado, Texas. A rosary will take place at 10:30 am, followed by a mass at 11:00 am. Burial will be held at 2:00 pm at the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen, Texas. Nita will be buried with her loving and devoted husband, Stanley James Benoit.
Nita was born November 25, 1936 in Gueydan, Louisiana to Elray and Hazel David. Upon graduating from Gueydan High School, Nita began pursuing a degree in Education. On January 21, 1956, Nita married her childhood sweetheart Stan Benoit. Stan had joined the US Army, so Nita became a military wife, traveling all over the world with her husband and family. Nita finally was able to earn her degree in Elementary Education from Mary Hardin Baylor University, and began a career teaching elementary children until she retired May 2003.
Nita loved her three children, and was blessed with 8 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Nita enjoyed spending time with them. She also loved quilting and especially teaching others to quilt and various other crafts. She was a life long teacher to many friends including family members.
Survivors include son Jeffrey Benoit and wife, Patti, of Austin, Texas; daughter Cheryl Benoit of Crockett, Texas; daughter-in-law Estelee Benoit of Austin, Texas; her beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is also survived by three sisters, one brother, and many cousins.
Nita was preceded in death by her loving husband, Stan Benoit and her son, Danny Benoit.
