Joyce Ann Watson Grant passed away peacefully on November 9, 2013 in a Temple hospital.

A celebration of life will be Friday, November 15, 2013 at 10:00AM at St. Francis Episcopal Church with the Rev. Brad St. Romaine and the Rev. George Udell officiating.

Joyce was born on July 8, 1945 in Danville, VA to Harold and Alpha Watson. She grew up in Chatham, VA. Joyce married Lawson Grant on October 7, 1977 in Danville and moved to Temple TX in 1978.

Joyce loved her Lord and was very active in many areas of St. Francis Episcopal Church including service as a lay reader, altar guild member, lay Eucharistic minister, Solice Alzheimer’s Respite program volunteer, gift shop volunteer and Daughters of the King member.

Joyce’s dearest love was her family. She was always surrounded by family: her father was one of 17 children and mother was one of 8 children. That love flourished as she grew up and had a family of her own.

She became “Gigi” not only to her grand children and great grandson but to many others. She always had a smile for everyone and gave of herself to all she met. She considered that her Lord had placed her here to love and serve others, the touchstone of her life. She will be missed by many who were touched by her gentle compassionate nature; but her love of others will live on in everyone who knew her.

Joyce was preceded in death by her parents and sister Bonnie Watson.

Survivors include her husband Lawson and her daughters, Annette Taylor and Janet Wilson and husband Jamey. She is also survived by her sisters Donna Hogg and husband Don of Smith Mountain Lake, VA and Kathy and husband Gil Collins of Danville, VA., four grandchildren, Michael Taylor of Austin, Hannah Wilson, Ian Wilson and Collin Wilson all of Salado: and a great grandson Shane Taylor of Austin: and, nieces Angie O’Malley, Sarah Young, Jennifer Querry and Julie Holley and one nephew, Richie Hogg, all of Virginia.

Joyce always strived to live in such a way that those who know you but don’t know God will come to know God because they know you.
