Services for John Ross Woolard Jr., 58, will be at 10:00AM, Wednesday, June 5 at the Salado First Baptist Church with internment services at Salado Historic Cemetery at 11:00AM. A celebration of life will follow at the First Baptist Church at 12:00PM.

John Ross Woolard Jr. died May 29 at his residence.

John was born in Whitesboro, Texas on August 26, 1954 to John Ross Woolard Sr. and Tommie Jo Whitten.

After high school, he joined the US Navy where he spent 4 years of active duty and 2 years of reserves. He received his BBA from Texas State University and worked on his MBA at UMHB. Being a proud Texan and a true patriot, you always knew where John stood. His friends all called him the Good Samaritan. He always said that his hobbies were fixin’ and drawin’.

John was passionate about electrical and mechanical things. John was a skilled craftsman who earned his living and enjoyment through auto and home improvement and maintenance. He eventually turned this into his own successful business. He was the ideal handyman.

During his career at Mobil Chemical, he met and married Susan Lee. He believed in a strong family and they always came first. He encouraged his sons and daughters to work hard and persevere in their goals. He was devastated at the loss of his granddaughter, Sarah Foster, who died in a tragic auto accident.

John is preceded in death by his father, mother and granddaughter.

He is succeeded by his wife, Susan, three brothers - Robert, James and Tommy Woolard, three daughters - Linda Foster, Bonnie Baker and Connie Rivas and three sons - William Baker Jr., John R. Woolard III and Chris Woolard. He has 11 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. He will be greatly missed.
