Jack Cooper died on Saturday, March 28, 2015 at his residence. He was 79 years old. He was born on September 20, 1935 to Roger Wilbarger Cooper and Ida Treuthardt Cooper in Georgetown, Texas. He attended Georgetown High School, Georgetown, TX. Jack received his BS in Mechanical Engineering from Texas Tech and did additional graduate work at TCU and SMU.
In 1958 he married Carol Mackey and the couple had three children. While living in Lubbock, Ft. Worth, San Diego and Tucson, Jack worked for General Dynamics, Hughes Missile Raytheon Tech Support Engineering Aircraft/Missile/Launchers Cruise Missile and holds many patents in this area. After 43 years with General Dynamics, Jack retired and returned to Texas.
His hobbies included skeet and trap shooting and he began competing in in the National Skeet Shooting Association registered events. His competition included attendance at the World Shoots in San Antonio. In 1995 he was elected as president of the Arizona Skeet Shooting Association. He also won the doubles event and took third place in the 28 Gage at Old Pueblo Open at Tucson Trap and Sheet Club. Jack also restored Antique British sports cars.
He is preceded in death by his parents and wife and survived by his son, Allan Cooper of Sacramento, CA; daughter, Laurie Sanders of San Diego, CA and Sara Cooper of San Diego, CA; sister, Sara Pettijohn of Salado; loving companion Jackie Payne and ten grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers the family has requested that donations be sent to the Presbyterian Church of Salado, P.O. Box 865, Salado, TX 76571.
