Services for James L. “Jim” Morris will be:
Visitation at Broecker Funeral Home Salado, Wednesday, June 4 from 6PM to 8PM. Funeral service will be at 3C Cowboy Fellowship Church, Salado on Thursday, June 5 at 1:30P with Pastor Jason Bryant officiation. Burial will follow at Bell Plains Cemetery, Armstrong Road, Salado.
James L. “Jim” Morris, 55 passed away Friday, May 30, 2014 at Scott and White Memorial Hospital in Temple, TX with his children by his side, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born August 22, 1958 in Glens Falls, N. Y... He was the son of the late Leo D. Morris and Jean (Hayes) Morris.
Jim graduated from Lake George High School class of 1976. He attended Calais Technical School studying wood harvesting and heavy equipment operation. He worked in the logging industry until 1982 when he joined the U S Army. Jim served in Bromberg, Germany and Fort Hood, TX. in the Field Artillery. While in Texas, Jim made many friends and loved the Texas climate.
After the service he returned to Lake George where he worked construction. Jim entered employment with friend and developer Gary Koncikowski where he played and important part of the building of Water Slide World and other projects.
In the late 1980’s, Jim worked summers in Lake George and winters in Texas. In 1996, he moved his family to Texas permanently.
For the past several years he operated Jim Morris Trucking of Belton.
Jim loved spending time with his children. He always had a big smile and hearty laugh for everyone.
Jim is predeceased by his father Leo Morris.
He is survived by his daughters, Krystal Morris of Queensbury, N. Y., Lilly Morris of Belton, TX, a stepson Will Berger of Temple, TX. Three grand children Lena and Aubrie Morris of Belton and Savannah Berger of Temple, TX., his mother, Jean Morris of Lake George, N.Y. and brother Richard “Rick” Morris and his wife Cathy of Bolton Landing, N. Y.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to 3C Cowboy Fellowship Church Building Fund.
