Hezle M. Stewart Obituary


Services for Hezle M. Stewart, 74, Salado, will be at 2:00PM, Thursday, March 29, 2012 at the 1st Baptist Church of Salado, with Pastor Ronnie Yarber officiating. Burial will follow at Salado Cemetery with Military Honors. Hezle died March 26, 2012 at his residence in Salado.


Mr. Stewart was born in Callahan County, Texas on July 15, 1937 to Hezle Perry Stewart and Hallie Whaley. He graduated from McCallum High School in Austin, Texas in 1955. Thereafter he joined the U.S. Marine Corps. After returning to Texas, he met his future wife Carolyn Corley. They married on April 2, 1960 and had two children.


Hezle graduated from Dallas Baptist College and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Ft. Worth. He later attended Golden Gate Seminary in Mill Valley, Ca. while working on his doctorate degree.


He served God as a pastor in Texas, New Mexico, Colorado and Washington. He served as an adjunct professor at Golden Gate Seminary.


Hezle retired from the pastorate in 1997 and settled in Salado.


Survivors include his wife and children, Blynn Stewart of Bedford, TX and Lisa Cockrell of Salado, as well as four grandchildren.
