Mr. Glenn Franklin Burdette, age 84, of Salado passed away June 20th, 2023, at Baylor Scott & White Hospital surrounded by his loved ones. Glenn was born August 31, 1938 in Sissonville, West Virginia, a son of Denver and Dorothy Burdette. He was raised in the Appalachian Mountains along with his brother Leon and four sisters Evelyn, Dareen, Beatty and Shirley. They were a close knit family who loved each other very much. He and Carolyn, his wife of 34 years, raised their four children Ron, Angie, Greg and Paul in Mulberry, FL. Glenn was a very hard working man who took pride in taking care of his family and his home. The children had a traditional upbringing where love of family, integrity, perseverance, education and a good work ethic were instilled by both of their parents. In 1989 Glenn moved to Belfast, TN where he retired as the Vice President of Denard & Moore, Inc. after 41 years of service. He took a lot of pride in his work and loved to drive past the industrial buildings he had a hand in creating. Glenn was an admired and respected boss. He would say “The only people who don’t make mistakes are the people who don’t do any work”. Glenn eventually settled in Salado, TX where he enjoyed the small town atmosphere and admired the Salado Creek that runs through the town. Glenn loved reading about history and loved watching old westerns (as long as there were no singing cowboys). He enjoyed visiting museums and historical sites. Most of all Glenn, also known as Papaw and Great – Papaw loved spending time with his seven grandkids and eight great- grandkids. Nothing like the hug of a child. Celebration of Glenn’s life will be Saturday, June 24th, 2023 at 10 a.m. at Broecker Funeral Home in Salado, TX. ***Gathering to follow at the home of Ron and Sandy Burdette, 1002 Deer Xing, Salado, TX.
