Services for Freddy J. Smith will be private. Freddy died on Wednesday, May 20, 2015 in a local hospital. He was born on March 17, 1936 in El Paso, Texas to Love Greathouse and Lois E. Powell. He married Kathy Bader on June 5, 1974. The couple moved to Salado in 1994. Freddy was employed by the Santa Fe Railroad for 43 years. He retired in 1998. He loved cooking, reading, listening to music, traveling in his RV, hunting, fishing, and camping. Freddy served in the National Guard. He was a mason and a member of the Shriners. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Kathleen and a brother John. Freddy is survived by his wife and four sons: Bryan of Lampasas, TX, Stacy of Early, TX, Raphael of Brownwood, TX, and Brad of North Richland Hills, TX; nine grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, Sister Dana and Brother Dale. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Shriners Hospitals for Children 6977 Main Street Houston, TX 77030.
