Floyd Andrew Jackson, 88, died Tuesday, February 21 at a local hospital.
Services for Mr. Jackson will be at 1:00PM Saturday, February 25 at Cedar Valley Baptist Church, Salado. Interment will follow immediately at Cedar Valley Cemetery. Rick Warden, Jack Husung and Billy Johnson will be officiating.
A visitation will be at 6:00PM to 8:00PM Friday, February 24 at Cedar Valley Baptist Church, Salado.
Floyd was born November 19, 1923 to Joe Jackson and Emme Rachial Calder in Cedar Valley. He attended the Cedar Valley school and in February 1943 enlisted in the Army.
Mr. Jackson served in Germany during WWII as a machine gunner. While on a mission, he was wounded and returned to the United States where he was medically discharged. He received the Purple Heart for his valor during this war.
In May, 1944 he married Margaret Marley before returning to the war.
In December, 1945 they returned to the homestead where Floyd was born and have lived there ever since.
Floyd spent most of his life as a carpenter/farmer/rancher while devoting 30 years as a civil servant at Ft. Hood as a welder. (expand this)
Mr. Jackson loved his church and became a major contributor to the creation of and maintenance of the Cedar Valley Baptist Church. He loved singing Gospel songs.
He is preceded in death by his 6 brothers and 4 sisters, and 2 sons, Jessie Lindel Jackson and Clayton Dewayne Jackson.
He is succeeded by his wife, Margaret and son, Donnie Jackson. He has 8 grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren.
