Esther Ruth Pappas died on Sunday, October 19, 2014 at her residence. She was 96 years old.

Esther was born in Modesto, California, December 24, 1917 to Emile and Marie Breham. In 1962 she met Tom Pappas. They were married shortly thereafter in Presque Isle, Maine.

Lt. Col. Pappas and Esther lived in many locations but retired in Salado.

She was President of the officer wife club at Holloman AFB.

Mrs. Pappas was noted for her volunteer work, particularly with children placed in emergency shelters. Many youth are placed at The Williams House in Lometa, Texas. These children receive enormous love, compassion and care through many volunteer citizens who help and the dedicated staff. At a recent emergency shelter Board meeting, Ms. Esther Pappas of Salado, Texas was respectfully recognized for her care and concern for providing many beautiful hand-crocheted afghans to the children at the shelter. Through Ms. Pappas' dedication to the children, youth receive their own afghan that they cherish and keep as their own personal belonging. The children expressed many times that having their very own afghan helped them feel loved and cared for and helped them personally.

Esther was an avid golfer as well as bowler in her youth.

She is preceded by her mother and father, 2 sisters, Ruby, Arnold, CA and Margaret, Sacramento, CA and 1 brother, Don, St. Helena, CA.

She is survived by her 2 sons, Thomas and Dr. Robert Pappas and grandson Hunter.

Donations may be given to the Williams House, % Mr. Glenn McKenzie, President, 2105 Clover Lane, Cedar Park, TX. 78613
