Ellis Dean Pollan Obituary

Ellis D. Pollan, a quiet veteran, devoted family man, and lover of the open road, passed away surrounded by those who cherished him. Born to Ernest and Ollie Pollan, Ellis grew up with the values of loyalty, humility, and steady strength that would define his entire life. Ellis served his country aboard the USS Saratoga, where he carried out his duties with courage and quiet resolve. His service shaped him deeply, instilling a sense of honor and discipline that remained with him long after he returned home. Ellis built a life centered on love and family. He was the devoted husband of Osita Pollan, with whom he shared a lifetime of partnership and unwavering support. He was a proud father to Michael Pollan and Richard, both of whom he loved deeply and held close to his heart. Ellis also welcomed Mandy into the family with warmth and affection, grateful for the love and support she brought into Michael’s life. In his later years, Ellis found immense joy in his grandchildren — Mackenzie, Kennedy, Sydney, Elaina, Isabella, and Alyssa — each one a bright reminder of the legacy he was leaving behind. He is survived by his loving sisters Nora Box, Mary Howe, and Jo Ann Cross, who will forever remember his gentle humor, thoughtful presence, and the quiet way he made every room feel steadier. He now joins his parents, Ernest and Ollie, in peaceful rest. Ellis was a man who found freedom in simple things — especially the open road. Whether behind the wheel or simply watching the horizon stretch out before him, he carried a traveler’s heart and a veteran’s calm. His life was marked not by noise, but by depth: service without boasting, love without condition, and strength without show. He will be remembered for his integrity, his humility, and the quiet grace with which he moved through the world. His legacy lives on in the family he loved, the values he lived, and the countless lives he touched along the way
