Doris V. Bullard

Doris Virginia Sanders Bullard was born to James Harvey and Beulah Bell Richard Sanders on
November 9, 1932, in a part of Taylor’s Valley known as Okay. She is survived by her son
Randy Bullard and his wife Amy of Jamestown, Ohio; four grandchildren; Kristin Helmick,
Stephanie Bullard, Austin Bullard and Courtney McIntosh and seven great grandchildren.
Doris’s parents settled in Salado in 1945. She worked on the family farm until her graduation
from Salado High School in 1950. She married in 1951, had her son Randy in 1952 and worked
various jobs until returning to Salado permanently in 1961 where she became part of the first
group of checkers at the new HEB in Belton in 1963. She worked at various jobs in Belton and
Temple and finally at Country Boys’ Grocery in Salado until her retirement due to health reasons
in 1985.
Doris was a long-time member of First Baptist Church in Salado, faithfully attending her Sunday
School and Church services her entire lifetime in Salado. She was known as a friend and
caregiver to many and served the Lord unfailingly in that capacity until her death. She will be
buried in Resthaven Cemetery in Belton close to her parents and siblings.
