– Services for Donald H. Williams, 75 will be at 1:30PM, Thursday, April 25, Salado United Methodist Church, Royal Street, Salado. Reverend Travis Franklin will be officiating.
Don died April 17, 2013 at a Temple extended care facility. He was born in Palestine, Tx. to Herman Walter and Mary Fitzgerald Williams.
He received his bachelor and masters degrees at Sam Houston State and his PhD School Administration from the University of Texas.
Don loved to teach. He was a teacher, principal and superintendent in the school system his entire career. He taught elementary school level in Baytown and Midland: was a research analyst for Governor Connelly’s Committee on Public Education: was a Fellow in the US Office of Education: worked for the Southwest Educational Development Laboratory in Austin and held a variety of leadership positions in the San Marcos Consolidated I.S.D.
Always active in the community where he worked, Don was a member of the Rotary and Lions Club for many years. He was the President and Zone Chairman several times in Lions and would wear with pride his Lions vest, the front covered with pins denoting his activities.
He was on the board of trustees of the Salado United Methodist Church.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife Loris of 28 years, by his twin brother, Ronald and wife Ann, Midland, Tx. Sister Martha Squibb of Dallas, daughters Lora Allison Piatak of Florence and Mary Catherine Williams, Austin of and 1 granddaughter, Haley Piatak.
