Don Michael Roberts passed away peacefully with his family by his side at Seaton Hospital in Austin. He was 80 years old. Don and his twin brother, James Wylie Roberts, were born in Greenville, Texas to parents Rosemary Wylie and James Barton Roberts. Don grew up in Greenville, graduated from high school there, and was a graduate of East Texas State University. He served four years in the U.S. Navy as a hospital corpsman, during which time he served aboard the U.S.S. Gaffey during the Vietnam War and was stationed in Guam and San Francisco. He met Mary Jo, his wife of 52 years, in Dallas, Texas. After living in Greenville, they moved to Minnesota, where Don became a CRNA. The couple returned to Texas, where they raised their four daughters in Austin. Don and Mary Jo moved to Salado in 2002. Don was a member of St. Stephen Catholic Church and an active member of the Knights of Columbus. Don is survived by his wife, daughters Beth McGinnis, Michon Deakins, Sara Dierk, and Erin Roberts; grandchildren Jordan Cotter, Tyler Neeley, Meghin Deakins, and lan Deakins; brother, James W. Roberts, half-brother Bart Roberts and half-sister Randy Willberg. He was preceded in death by his parents. Rosary at 6:00 pm on Tuesday, May 20, 2025, at St. Stephen Catholic Church in Salado, Texas. Memorial Mass at 10:00 am on Wednesday, May 21, 2025, also at St. Stephen Catholic Church, followed by a short reception. Interment with military honors at 3:00 pm that same day at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Wounded Warriors Project.
