David R. Krause, CSM Ret. Obituary


He was born in Nashville, TN. to Lt. Col. William G. Krause and Mary W. Pilkinton Krause, June 8, 1945. . Upon graduation from Lutheran High School in Los Angeles, he enlisted in the Army and served in Germany and Vietnam, where he served as a Recon Sgt, 1st Cav. Earning the Bronze Star, 3 Purple Hearts, and the Combat Infantryman’s Badge. After 6 years of civilian life, including serving as a police officer in Macon, GA, he re-entered the Army and completed his illustrious career, serving at Fort Hood, Korea and Alaska. In Korea he was an advisor patrolling the DMZ. In Alaska, he was the Corps NCOIC during which he directed much of the support logistics during the Exxon-Valdez disaster.

David was always dedicated to service, something he was very proud of. After retirement from the Army, David worked for 14 years with Bickel, a well respected roofing company where he excelled in customer service and support. David loved hunting, anything from grizzly bears to coyotes. His hobby was to build significant hunting blinds which he often took to property in Wisconsin and Illinois. He was a lifetime member of the NRA and Elk Foundation.

David is preceded in death by his father and mother, sister, Denise Krause Srinivasen, Houston and stepson, Brent Romero of Temple. . He is survived by his wife, Anne Krause, brother, Michael A. Krause, Jacksonville, Il., son, William David Krause, Loveland, Co., stepchildren, Karen Kelly, Megan Romero, Mark Romero and Ross Romero. He had 11 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
