With a mop of black hair and eyes to match, the child died of brain cancer on Sunday, September 6, 2015 at his home in Belton. He was born February 16, 2007 in Temple, Texas to Juana Avila. He attended South West Elementary School, Belton before he became ill with inoperable brainstem cancer and was unable to attend. Through his unsuccessful radiation treatments, his only wish was to be taken to church where he could be close to God.
He was a member of the St. Josephs Episcopal Church, Salado where he became an acolyte and served as an altar boy for church services. He loved being in church and was, also, a member of the youth group.
Conrad is survived by his mother, Juana Avila; brothers: Jesse Avila and Jose Lopez, and sister Samantha Avila who fervently prayed that God would give him one more year so they could be together. God granted her wish before taking Conrad home.
“A ray of sunlight came and went, a beautiful treasure only lent. In God’s keeping gently sleeps, this child we loved but could not keep.” Author Unknown
