Brent A. Romero Obituary


Services for Brent Romero will be a rosary at 6:00PM, Wednesday, April 2 at St. Stephen Church and a mass of Christian Burial at 10:00AM, Thursday, April 3 at St. Stephen Catholic Church with Reverend Aloy Nzekwe officiating. Burial will be at Bellwood Memorial Cemetery at 10:30AM, Friday, April 4. Brent Romero, 54, died peacefully on Sunday, March 30, 2014 in his mother’s home in Salado, Texas.


Brent was born on June 22, 1959 in Orange, Texas to Delwin Romero and Anne Romero Krause. Shortly afterward, his family moved to Temple, Texas where Brent graduated from Temple High School in 1977 and graduated magna cum laude from The University of Texas with a degree in American Studies and Business in 1982. He worked for SDL and IDC corporations for a many years. More recently, Brent worked as a furniture salesman for Dillard’s Department Store in Austin, Texas where he was named the #3 salesman in the nation.


He was an avid reader and loved movies and television. He also enjoyed spending time with his cats and hiking in the Austin area. One of Brent’s greatest gifts was his ability to entertain family and friends with his story telling and his robust laugh.


He is survived by his devoted mother, Anne Romero Krause and step father Dave Krause from Salado, Texas; sister and brother-in-law Karen and Kevin Kelly of Lubbock, Texas, and sister Megan Romero of Temple, Texas; Mark Romero of Fort Worth, Texas; brother and sister-in-law Ross and Sheri Romero of The Colony, Texas. He is also survived by 6 nieces, 4 nephews and 3 great-nephews.


Brent is preceded in death by his father, Delwin Ray Romero, and his grandparents Roberta and JP Blankenstein and Hazel and Romy Romero.


The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to Dianna Kennedy and Crystal Benbenek for their care and support, to the women of St. Stephen’s Catholic Church of Salado for their generous meals and to the nursing care from Standards Hospice.


Memorial contributions may be made to The ALS Foundation, St. Stephen’s Catholic Church Building Fund, or to The Busby Foundation in Austin, TX.
