Billy died Monday, May 30, 2022 at home with his loving wife of 63 years, Barbara, at his side.  He was born December 4, 1936 at home near Hay Branch, TX to Bill and Peggy Crass Cosper.

He attended several rural schools, and graduated from Holland High School in 1955.

Billy was a member of Little River United Methodist Church.  He was also a member of the Little River Lions Club.

Billy married Barbara Kamman on October 3, 1958.  They have lived in Holland over 20 years, and previously in Belton for over 30 years.  Billy served in the U.S. Army from February 1960 thru April 1962. While serving, he was a photographer and journalist.  He was an expert sharpshooter.  He made many life-long friends during this time, of which he still kept in touch with.  He was a truck driver and rancher by trade, working at E.R. Carpenter for over 30 years.  Prior to this, he and Barbara co-owned a poultry trucking company with his in-laws, Nelson and Mildred Kamman.  Billy and Barbara raised four kids.  They both drove, and frequently took all their children on the truck with them.

He and Barbara traveled to all fifty states, spending many summers living, and working, with the Amish.  During these visits, he learned to make buggies and wagons.  He brought several of these home with him.  He loved their way of life and always said he was born 100 years too late.  They made many life-long friends during these travels.  He and Barbara did many trail rides and once drove a covered wagon from Oklahoma back to Moody.   He continued his love of photography and photographed beautiful landscapes, as well as interesting people along the way.  He passed this love along to his children and grandchildren.

Billy and Barbara’s door was always open.  They helped raise many of their children’s friends.  Everyone knew to come by around supper time, and somehow there was always enough.  He loved spending time with his family and helped many of his grandchildren with FFA and 4-H projects.  He also volunteered with the Academy FFA and hauled many kids’ livestock to shows all over the state.

Billy was preceded in death by his parents and brother Joe Cosper.

Billy is survived by his wife Barbara, children Deborah (Randy) Hendricks, Denise (Dave) Cowen, Donna (Joe) Nelson, and Billy Jr (Kat) Cosper.  Brothers Roy (Dianna) Cosper and Robert (Lavonn) Cosper, and Sister-in-law Gale Cosper.  Grandchildren Annette (John) Cates,  Matt (Jessica) Hendricks, Anthony Cosper, Matt Nelson, Crystal (Scott) Jewell, Cody (Melody) Hendricks, Dixie (Jim) Doherty, Brandy Rodriguez, Kelcie (James) Carden, Hallie (Matt) Swindoll, MacKenzie Eichler, Makenna Cosper, Allison Covey, David Covey, Ashleigh Kanka, Jacob Kanka, Colt Cosper.
