Funeral services for Barbara Stracener, 72, of Belton, will be held at 10:00 AM Monday, May 16, 2016, at 3C Cowboy Fellowship with Pastor Chris Halpayne officiating. Burial will follow at the Live Oak Cemetery in Youngsport.
The family will receive friends for visitation Sunday evening from 6:00 – 8:00 PM at the Broecker Funeral Home in Salado.
Barbara was born in Temple, Texas on June 1, 1943, to Marvin and Ruby Kelley. She was raised in Central Texas. Barbara was an excellent seamstress and worked at several sewing factories. She was a tailor for dress shops. In 1979, she met Jim Stracener, the love of her life. Barbara loved camping, fishing and spending time with her family. She was a wonderful person who always made you laugh. She loved to sing and dance…..she was the life of the party and will be dearly missed by all.
Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, Jim Stracener; both parents, Marvin and Ruby Kelley; three brothers, Ray Kelley, Leonard Kelley, and Bill Kelley; and three sisters, Nora Greathouse, Glenda Bowery, and Jean Shearin.
Survivors include two daughters, Karen Creed of Salado and Charlotte Sanders of Belton; two sisters, “Sis” Polk and Nell Kelley; and one brother, Bob Kelley of Lorena. Thirteen grandchildren, forty-one great-grandchildren and ten great-great grandchildren.
