Services for Richard Walter Reeves, 70, of Hutto will be Monday, September 10 at St Patrick Catholic Church, Hutto with Reverend Paul Hudson officiating.  Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM, followed by a rosary at 10:30, and a mass of Christian burial at 11:00.

Burial will follow at Assumption Cemetery, Austin, Texas.

Mr. Reeves passed away Sunday, September 2, 2018 at a Temple hospital.  He was born October 8, 1947 to Roscoe Walter Reeves and Lillian Magdalene Gonzales in Fort Worth, Texas.  He attended high school in Austin and graduated from John H. Reagan High School.Richard entered the Air Force in October of 1967 in San Antonio.  He served 4 years active duty before being honorably discharged.  He continued his service to his country in the Air Force Reserves and the Army National Guard.  He retired from the service in 2003.Richard was employed for many years in the transportation industry.  Beginning his career driving a truck and managing freight in the military, he continued this work in his civilian life.  He retired from Austin Foam and Plastic in 2009.

Richard had a passion for all things NASCAR.  He enjoyed watching races and collecting memorabilia.  This love of fast cars led to him to collect classic cars as well including his much loved 1923 Ford T-bucket. 

He also enjoyed the culture of the Old West.  He not only dressed the part but also participated in single action shooting society events showing off his skills with antique pistols. Earlier this year, he graduated from the citizens’ police academy in Hutto.

He is preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his brother Michael and wife, Sue of Austin; sister Karen Cox and husband, Jerry of Leona; brother Chris and wife, Jennifer of Temple; and numerous nieces and nephews.Richard was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Hutto where he regularly served as an usher.
