Henry Martinez Obituary

Henry Martinez, 79 of Salado Texas, passed from this life on Monday April 9th, 2018 following a long battle with illnesses. He was born April 8th, 1939 in San Marcos Texas to Anita Rodriguez and Francisco Martinez.

Henry began his career in the restaurant industry in Austin Texas, starting as a cook and perfecting his craft and expertise and moved to Salado in 1976 to become the chef of Mill Creek Golf and Country Club for several years. Then went on to become the Chef of the Tyler House for 5 years and then went on to help me start Young Williams Manor, which was a dinner theater, restaurant and finished his career with the truck stop and the stagecoach coffee shop.

After retiring from the restaurants in 2016 Henry would find happiness in the love of fishing, playing cards, going to the movies and casinos and spending time with his lovely wife Teresa, family and friends.

Survivors include his wife Teresa Martinez, 6 daughters: Nicole Rodon – El Paso Tx., Michelle Martinez – Denver Colorado, Alice Martinez – Austin Tx., Dianne Renteria- Austin Tx., Linda Martinez Austin Tx., and Judy Martinez – Austin Tx., and 4 sons: Adam Martinez- Fate Tx., Ronny Martinez Austin Tx., Henry Martinez Jr. – Austin Tx. , and Robert Martinez –Austin Tx., Sister: Maria Elida Martinez Artega- Austin Tx., 3 brothers: Leo Martinez: Kyle Tx., Juan Ledesma – San Marcos Tx., David Rodriguez- Las Cruces New Mexico, and Fenando Ortiz – San Marcos Tx.., 27 grandchildren , 75 great grandchildren and 6 great great grandchildren

Thursday, April 12, 2018 at 7:00 PM will be a rosary service at St. Stephen Catholic Church, Salado. Friday, April 13, 2018 at 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM the family will receive visitors at Broecker Funeral Home, Salado. Saturday, April 14, 2018 at 10:00 AM will be a mass of Christian Burial at St. Stephen Catholic Church, Salado with burial to follow at Salado Historic Cemetery.
