Gay Frances Rohlack, 84, of Corpus Christi died peacefully in her home from natural causes on Monday, November 27, 2017.  Gay was born on May 19, 1933 to Claude Marvin and Emma Ferguson Wood in Holland, Texas.  Gay attended Holland ISD and later attended Del Mar College for License Vocational Nursing.

Gay married Johnny Rohlack on July 9, 1950 at Wutrick Hill Lutheran Church.  They had four children: Dennis Rohlack, Danny Rohlack, Donna Cooper-Campbell and Johnny Rohlack Jr.

Gay worked as a nurse for 20 years at Memorial Medical Center in Corpus Christi, Texas where she lived for 30 years enjoying family, friends, and her many hobbies. Gay was known for her love and obsession with quilting; you would find material squirreled in closets, trunks, suitcases, dresser drawers and crocks. She belonged to the Quilt Guild in Temple Texas.  She was also involved with the Senior Citizens of Holland Texas quilt group.  In addition, she belonged to the St. John Lutheran Church Piece Makers who made quilts for world relief and was a member of the Holland Women’s Study Club and Chaplain of the American Legion Auxiliary Holland #526.

After moving back to Corpus in 2012 she joined the Quilters at Trinity Lutheran Church.  She said she stayed busier after retiring then she ever was working outside the home.  Her love of crafting and decorating included: crocheting, ceramics, and working in the yard planting and taking care of her garden.

Gay is survived by her four children, ten grandchildren, and nine great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Johnny Rohlack; her parents, Claude and Emma Wood; brothers, Frank Wood, Gary Wood, Buddy Wood, Claude Wood, William “Bill” Wood and sister, Vivian Paulsen.
