Barbara Tindell Obituary

Barbara Lee Tindell, a former resident of Killeen and Temple, Texas, died on April 15 in Waco. She was 87.

She was born to Carl and Dorothy Wilkinson in Los Angeles, California, on Oct. 9, 1936. She graduated from Roosevelt High School in Fresno, California, in 1954 and from Fresno Junior College in 1956 before marrying Carl P. Hill of Fullerton, California, who preceded her in death.

In 1978 she married her best friend, Walter Ray Tindell of Killeen, an Alabama native and former captain in the U.S. Army, who died in 2016.

Barbara was well-loved by her children, her church, and her friends. Those who cared for her at the end of her journey found her to be sassy, fun, and always smiling. Her strength was admired by many. She could be tough as nails, fierce yet tender, and uncompromising but kind. Through everything, she loved her family with everything she had.

She is survived by daughter Jo E. Denson of Waco; son B. Loren Hill and his wife Mary of Centerville; son Steven G. Hill and his wife Yamileth of Stevens Point, Wisconsin; son Craig P. Hill of Flat Rock, Michigan; daughter Penny Sue Donley and her husband Charles of Robinson; daughter Betsy L. Roden of Ingram; daughter Patricia Wells and her husband Bill of Mountain City; and daughter Beth Tindell of Georgetown.

Barbara is also survived by her grandchildren Jason Denson, Shelby and Lacey Donley, Carly McCarty, Samuel and Lorena Hill, Shaelyn Wells, Tyler Wells, Jacob and Jeremy Wininger, and Thomas, Ethan and Austin Roden, as well as nine great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held May 13, at the Presbyterian Church of Salado. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Presbyterian Church of Salado, the Alzheimer’s Association, or a charity of choice.
